Solgar proudly introduces Astaxanthin 5 mg softgels, offering higher dosages of this super antioxidant, to their line. Each Solgar Astaxanthin offers astaxanthin derived from the algae Haematococcus pluvialis (H. pluvialis). These premium formulas also contain trace amounts of naturally-occurring carotenoids, including lutein, canthaxanthin and beta-carotene. Plus, they're free of gluten, wheat and dairy.

A naturally-occurring, pinkish-red carotenoid, astaxanthin is commonly found in marine organisms, such as algae, fish and crustaceans. In fact, it is responsible for salmon's distinctive color. The algae H. pluvialis offers one of the highest concentrations of astaxanthin found in nature.

Astaxanthin is a super antioxidant whose unique structure allows it to exist in both lipid and aqueous environments. This enables it to be active throughout the body unlike beta-carotene and vitamin E (only lipid soluble) and vitamin C (only water soluble). In addition, it helps to fight free radicals in the skin to maintain a natural healthy glow.

Lab and human research supports astaxanthin's antioxidant properties and the positive role this carotenoid plays in promoting skin health.

Suggested Use:
As a dietary supplement for adults, take one (1) softgel daily, preferably at mealtime, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Other Ingredients:
Sunflower seed oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin. Contains naturally occurring carotenoids including, lutein, canthaxanthin and beta carotene.
Free of: Gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, yeast, sugar, sodium, artificial flavor, sweetener, preservatives and color.
