What Is Diaper Rash?

If your baby’s diaper area is irritated, inflamed, pink or red, extra sensitive to touch, swollen or has raised bumps, chances are you’re looking at diaper rash.

What Causes Diaper Rash?

When skin in the diaper area is exposed to moisture for too long, it can develop an irritation called diaper rash. In general, the drier baby’s diaper area is, the more likely you’ll be able to prevent diaper rash.

How To Treat Diaper Rash

Keep the diaper area as dry as possible by changing wet or messy diapers as soon as possible. Apply a topical ointment or spray with zinc oxide in it, like Dr. Smith’s products.

Prevent Diaper Rash

Use a treatment like Dr. Smith’s Diaper Rash Spray or Ointment every day for preventative purposes. Even if you don’t see any signs of diaper rash, applying a barrier like this can protect baby’s skin.
